Hoe-Down Coming To Town

If you won't go to Eureka Springs, Eureka Springs just may come to you.

Tickets will go on sale Monday for a road show performance by the Eureka Springs-based Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down Music Theater in Booneville.

The Hoe-Down is the top selection of 31 Eureka Springs' attractions according to Internet travel website tripadvisor.com.

The Hoe-Down kicks off yet another season of high energy music, comedy, and fun in 2011 with several road shows before their normal season run begins in Eureka Springs in March.

See Featuring brother Randall and DaWayne George, the show is billed as a concert style performance, according to promotional material on its website and "has been featured on the Whoopi Goldberg radio show "Wake Up With Whoopi" and has been voted "Eureka Springs Business of the Year", and spotlighted in a two-page article in Harley Davidson's "Hog Tales" Magazine."

The date for the local show is Feb. 26 at the Booneville High School auditorium. Reserved seats are $20 and available at the Booneville Development Corporation/South Logan County Chamber of Commerce office.

General admission seats for the BDC/Chamber fundraiser are $15 for adults and $10 for children and will be available at all banks in the city. The show is limited to 450 seats.

The website insists the show, now entering its 30th year, will continue its "long standing tradition of providing not only the hottest pickers in the area, but also the kind of comedy that will have you repeating the punch lines for days. It's an all around 'feel good' kind of show that will leave you ready to come back for more."

"They're really good," said BDC/Chamber committee chairperson Kathy Swift. "It's comedy, it's great music. They do everything — they do gospel, they do country and western, they do 50s. It's a large variety of music, so they're going to be able to hit everybody's taste at some point."

Swift said getting the show here was no easy task due to the limited number of road shows the group does because of its short down time. An attempt to land one of those dates was unsuccessful last year.

The 2010 cast was Randall George on lead guitar and drums; DaWayne George on bass guitar; Wesley Trout on drums and vocals; Lee Hendrix on keys and vocals; Eddie Snow on steel guitar and banjo; Ted Snow on guitar and vocals; Jimmy Gyles on fiddle and mandolin; Sam Coffey on guitar, banjo, dobro; Leslie Wright on vocals and dance; Rannie George on dance; Jay Mischel on sound and lights; and P. Nutt, Granny, and Girl.

"The P. Nutt guy is hilarious. My side was hurting when I left," said Swift. "Every time I'm in Eureka Springs I go to it."
