York County boxing organizers Julio Alvarez and Jim DeLisio Jr. are planning their first show outside Pennsylvania.

Julio Alvarez and Jim DeLisio Jr. are finalizing details for a professional boxing show in Delaware featuring two York fighters. Alvarez and DeLisio, former coworkers from the Harley-Davidson plant in Springettsbury Township, have organized fights in York County since forming A&D Promotions.

But this is the first show they've held outside Pennsylvania.

Stevie Weimer (6-0) and Jesus Saucedo (2-0) are tentatively scheduled to fight on the March 19 card at Exhibit Hall at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington, Del. The fairgrounds are next to the Harrington Raceway & Casino.

Weimer is coming off a six-round split decision against Julias Edmonds (7-10) earlier this month. More of a defensive fighter in the amateur ranks, Weimer has enhanced his pro resume by surviving close fights -- including a major decision in July when he won despite breaking a bone in his hand in the first round.

"Stevie might be one of those guys that surprises everyone," trainer Julio Alvarez said.

Alex Guerrero (5-0-1) also is tentatively scheduled to fight. The younger brother of Fernando Guerrero (21-0), Alex Guerrero resides in nearby Salisbury, Md., about 40 miles from Harrington.

The show could come at a busy time for Alvarez. The Lincolnway Sportcenter trainer hopes Las Vegas-based trainer Cameron Dunkin can finalize details to place Carney "Beeper" Bowman (16-0) on the undercard of a fight in Atlantic City next month. It would mark Bowman's first fight in New Jersey since his professional debut in May 2004.

Idle since a major decision victory in Hanover in December, it could be another step toward Bowman eventually landing a higher-profile opponent.

"Hopefully it will happen," Alvarez said. "People keep asking me when he's going to step it up. The time is now. But it all hinges on Beeper."

Bowman will need to leave York in the coming weeks to train for the fight. Dunkin and Alvarez hope to have him train with featherweight Miguel Angel "Mikey" Garcia (24-0) in Oxnard, Calif.

Note: A bus trip from York to Harrington, Del., is being organized for March 19. The $50 package will include the price for the bus and tickets to the fight. Contact A&D Promotions for more information at 968-8000.
